Solo Trip (Not really)

I have always wanted to go
away from where I am...
but how do I escape myself?

It was April when I happen to scroll over a post of National Bookstore that Jenifer Niven was going to have a book signing event here in Ph. (Manila and Cebu)

I have been once to Cebu (not blogged), and I thought I'm never coming back, but I don't want to go to Manila, so yes. I picked Cebu. Thanks mom. I promised myself to never miss an opportunity to meet the author of my favorite book, All The Bright Places.

The trip wasn't really eventful as what a summer vacation should be, because I was still working with our thesis. Imagine. But I think I have learned things, and it was more than enough. Thanks to my friend / tourist guide.

1. SM  Seaside, Skating Rink
2. Temple of Leah
3. Trip Highlight, Jennifer Niven Booksigning
4. Fort San Pedro

Mactan Bridge, 5pm
Heading to Mandaue City

I feel so independent riding alone even though I was communicating with Leanard all the time I was travelling. My memory being here two years ago was a little blurry but I remember passing in that bridge. We stayed at Colon street before, and it was way farther than where I have stayed in this trip. Just had to ride the 'white taxi' for lesser fare and it took me, more or less 30 mins to arrive in Mandaue City but it actually depends on the traffic.

I met a dog named Tiny from the place I stayed in. She's a Chi, and she's lovely.

At SM Seaside. I really liked the Architectural design of the mall, and its location. We rode on a MyBus from SM Cebu. It is currently the third largest mall in the PH, and 10th in the world. We tried Ice Skating and the experience was both glum and terrific (the photo caption says it all), and what made it funny was because I was wearing a pants with rip on the knee part and each time I fell, I fall on my knees...slowly, but not all at once. The next photo was an exhibit of little kids' paintings and drawings. I have a thing for arts but I know that doesn't make me artsy.

We then went to Temple of Leah which was located at Brgy. Busay, really far from the city. This Temple is owned by the Adarna Family. The Father of Ellen Adarna dedicated this to his wife. It was made out of love.

Rushed little note I wrote for Jennifer Niven. I wasn't prepared. at. all. But the event brought me in tears. It was Jen who did, and I will forever treasure the moment. Meeting her and actually talking to her was the most starstruck moment I had. I forgot everything I wanted to ask her instead, I just thanked her for being there.

Fort San Pedro. One of the historical locations in Cebu. I liked the architecture and the backyard. They also have Pillboxes which reminded me of my childhood game.

Ice cream craze. We actually ate more, than these in the picture. It's my happy food.

I have more pictures taken during the trip but I'm too lazy to post it. And I really wanted to go to the beaches and falls of Visayas, and a side trip to Bohol but we lack time and it would have been better, I figured, if I had more company. Anyways, it was unforgettable. Next time, perhaps, I will go back, and go to the places I want to go.

xx, gayle
